As for projects that may or may not be happening, Law confirmed Naomi Watts' statement that Werner Herzog's Gertrude Bell biopic "Queen of the Desert" is now on hold and he will likely be no longer be available for it when it returns. "I don’t think that’s happening. I don’t think I can do that anymore," he admitted.

David Cronenberg and French production companies decidedly seem to be getting on very well. After his Cosmopolis, produced byAlfama, the Canadian director is now to work with France again.

According to Le Film Français, SBS Productions (directed by Saïd Ben Saïd) is to lead production on his next feature, Maps To The Stars. The film is to star Rachel Weisz, Viggo Mortensen, and Robert Pattinson. Co-produced by Germany (Integral Films) and Canada, the film, to recount the misadventures of two child actors caught up in Hollywood's dark side, is to start shooting next May.

David Cronenberg et sociétés de production françaises décidément semblent très bien s'entendre. Après son Cosmopolis, produit by Alfama, le metteur en scène canadien va travailler à nouveau avec la France à nouveau.

Selon Le Film Français, les Productions SBS (dirigé par Saïd Ben Saïd) vont diriger la production de son prochain long métrage, "Maps to the stars". Le film aura pour têtes d'affiche Rachel Weisz, Viggo Mortensen et Robert Pattinson. Co-produit par l'Allemagne (Films Integral) et par le Canada, le film, qui raconte les mésaventures de deux enfants acteurs pris dans le côté sombre de Hollywood, devrait commencer son tournage en mai prochain.

ROBERT Pattinson looked like just another music fan as he enjoyed Adelaide's Big Day Out at the Showgrounds on Friday.

The Hollywood star, and part-time muso, has been spotted all over town this week and was among the thousands watching The Killers, Vampire Weekend and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the festival.

Wearing his trademark baseball cap, check shirt and dark jeans, the Twilight hunk happily posed for photos backstage with John Day and friends.

"He was very cool, very gracious and good humoured ... I asked him how he was enjoying Adelaide and he said he'd only been here a short time and hadn't seen much," John says.

Robert's new movie, The Rover, will be shot in various locations in SA's Flinders Ranges, but the actor admitted to not knowing much about the area.

"I asked him what he (Rob) thought of the Flinders Ranges and he wasn't sure what or where that was, so he had a bit of a laugh about that," John says.

Later in the evening, Robert kicked on to what is becoming his favourite Adelaide nightspot, the Grace Emily Hotel on Waymouth St, where he had a few drinks in the beer garden.

Earlier in the week, the actor - wearing shorts, a white shirt and a backpack - was seen riding a bike on his own through Adelaide.

Confidential understands Rob was scheduled to leave Adelaide this weekend to start shooting on The Rover, with production set to begin this week.

Rob: I was almost all the time in the limo all by myself and David stays outside of the car. It was a bit odd at the beginning but you can’t rely on someone else about acting. And David is very sensitive about the actors trying to do; looked like he was looking for a something interesting out of it. I felt very comfortable about it.

Rob: Other casts come and visit the limo and do the uncomfortable act right in front of me siting very comfortable. It was like watching their acting plan in the way, I liked it very much!

Robert Pattinson is so charming, all he needs to do is show up these days to get his fans’ seal of approval.

But being super-nice obviously helps!

“Wasn’t expecting him to be so sweet,” Tara Oberti of Adelaide happily told E! News of her encounter last week with the Twilight star at the airport in the South Australian capital, where she and some pals had gathered to await Pattinson’s arrival. He’s in town to shoot The Rover with Guy Pearce.

“He was just, like, ‘Thank you guys so much for coming and waiting for me, it means a lot,’” Oberti recalled. “Then his manager or whatever he was thanked us girls, too, and then we were walking off. I [told R.Pattz], ‘Enjoy your time in Adelaide’ and he thanked me again.”

Swoon!

But the fun didn’t end there: Oberti said that she and her mates also saw Pattinson later that night at a local pub—and he totally gave them a grin of recognition!

“It was a small, grungy type of pub,” she described the place, “dark inside, loud and busy, but real chilled out with acoustic guitars and all that.” (No photos from the pub encounter, alas, but from what we’ve heard Rob say about making music like a normal bloke in his garage, it sounds like his kind of bar, don’t you think?)

Taylah Cailes, another one of lucky ladies who shared a camera click with R.Pattz at the airport (both she and Oberti shared their spoils on Twitter), told E! News that her group was waiting near a “secret door” at the airport from which they’ve also seen Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Zac Efron emerge from at times.

“He was walking with his manager and one security guard,” Cailes recalled. “He looked like a completely normal person. He had a guitar with him as well. I was the first to spot him walk out and I froze and was sort of speechless and pointing at him. He saw me and he had the cutest smirk on his face!”

“We asked nicely if we could get a picture with him,” she said. “He said he was in a rush and asked if it was okay if we got a group photo and made sure that we knew each other, and we said, ‘Yes,’ took our photo and then he said, ‘Thank you,’ to us, smiling, and got in his car.”

Can someone say gentleman?

Sounds like Pattinson just can’t help but make devoted friends everywhere he goes.

C’est Naomi Watts elle-même qui le dit, alors que le tournage de ce biopic de Gertrude Bell devait débuter en mars.

Avec un casting réunissant Robert Pattinson en Lawrence d’Arabie, Naomi Watts en Gertrude Bell et Jude Law dans un rôle indéterminé, QUEEN OF THE DESERT ne pouvait qu’attirer notre attention, notre curiosité et notre impatience. Surtout qu’à la réalisation trône Werner Herzog. Un des grands cinéastes de notre temps qui, ces dernières années, est davantage occupé par ses (excellents) documentaires que par ses films de fiction. Alors le voir revenir à un long-métrage de fiction, quatre ans après DANS L’ŒIL D’UN TUEUR (inédit chez nous) et trois ans après le barré BAD LIEUTENANT ESCALE À LA NOUVELLE-ORLÉANS, ne pouvait que nous réjouir.

Sauf que QUEEN OF THE DESERT ne se tournera finalement pas tout de suite, alors que les prises de vues devaient au départ débuter en mars prochain. C’est Naomi Watts elle-même qui a donné ces nouvelles peu encourageantes du projet, tout d’abord en déclarant à E ! Online : « Le film n’est pas pour tout de suite. Je ne sais pas encore quand (le tournage débutera, ndlr). J’espère qu’il se fera. Mais disons que je ne peux pas voyager en ce moment car j’ai beaucoup bourlingué l’an dernier. Cela a été une grosse année pour moi et il est temps de passer du temps à la maison avec mes enfants. » À MTV (via The Playlist), l’actrice, en pleine promo de TWO MOTHERS à Sundance, rajoute que les prises de vues pourraient tout de même débuter cette année ou en 2014. En revanche, elle assure que Robert Pattinson ne serait pas confirmé à 100% au casting…

On va donc croiser les doigts pour que tout ceci s’arrange. Rappelons que QUEEN OF THE DESERT doit retracer comment Lawrence et Bell travaillèrent de concert au début du 20e siècle pour asseoir le pouvoir des Hachémites en Jordanie et en Irak. Histoire de servir les intérêts français et anglais contre l’Empire Ottoman dans la région.

A RELAXED Robert Pattinson has been enjoying Adelaide's nightlife before filming starts in the Outback on his latest movie.

The casually dressed Hollywood star attracted little attention as he left Cork Wine Bar in Gouger St on Saturday night, with director David Michod and producer Liz Watts.

The Rover is a $12.5 million futuristic western.

The Twilight star enjoyed more of a boy's night on Sunday, with one fan spotting him having a few drinks at Currie St nightclub Zhivago.

Onlookers say he sat in a roped-off, VIP section of the club, and occasionally talked to other club patrons.

A spokeswoman for Zhivago would only confirm that Pattinson - who is believed to be staying at a large inner-city hotel - was at the club with friends for about an hour.

In town without his on-again, off-again girlfriend Kristen Stewart, Pattinson also had some low-key drinks at Waymouth St pub The Grace Emily Hotel on Friday night.

It's understood Pattinson, who touched down in Adelaide on Thursday, has spent time at the South Australian Film Corporation's new Glenside studios for meetings ahead of shooting, which is expected to begin later this month.

A spokeswoman for the movie declined to reveal where and when filming would take place but it's believed the Flinders Ranges is one of the locations.

Pattinson's co-star in The Rover, Australian actor Guy Pearce, is also expected to arrive in Adelaide in the next week.

Pattinson will play a thief in the movie, which has been described as Mad Max-esque.
"It's the type of part I was afraid I wouldn't get after being in a franchise," he said.
"It's one of the best (scripts) I've read. "It's one of my top five favourite scripts that I've read since I started doing this."
